Gli ultimi pescatori

WEDNSDAY, JULY13

7:00 PM

At Palazzo Butera, the first in a series of meetings with artists, winners of funding for the 10th edition of the Italian Council (2021), aimed at the acquisition of works by Italian museums. Curators and representatives of partner museums will speak to tell the reasons behind the ongoing projects, in a dialogue with the city and the art-loving community.

In the last two decades, the work of fishermen across the world has become increasingly difficult and precarious. Weaving the single stories of fishermen into a transnational map, the project explores the trade routes and systems which govern the sea, thus offering a novel view of Mediterranean heritage and its current place within global networks. Gli Ultimi Pescatori has won the 10th Italian Council and will be presented at the Ecomuseo Urbano Mare Memoria Viva in spring 2023.
